2007 Topics: Operator, Transportation, and Algebraic Methods in Econometrics
This topics course will cover three basic themes this year: 1. Operator methods, focusing on solutions of ill-posed operator equations occurring in the instrumental variables analysis. 2. Transportation methods, focusing on the Monge-Kantarovich problem in the quadratic case. Here we will discuss Ivar Ekeland’s lecture notes and related work on hedonic models as well as applications of rearrangements in econometrics. 3.
